I didn't walk away from this disappointed at all. From the very start all four men made it clear that this was a brawl. Chairs were thrown at numerous points in the first ten minutes on the floor. Nothing of note happened in the ring for a great while as it was just mindless brawling in the crowd to convey the hate between all four men. I mean the Bucks are known at disrespectful punks after the thing over in Hulk Hogan Land. Something about the team just makes people crawl with disgust. Plus you have two heroes in Steen and Dragon.
Everyone knew coming into this that there was no way The Young Bucks would be able to beat Steen and Dragon in a straight up fight. This fact was proven in the first ten minutes or so when it was brawling. Once tables got introduced and Super Dragon was put through one the tide began to switch to the Young Bucks being an experienced team. Steen was put through the ringer as the duo kept keeping Super Dragon out the ring to try to keep Steen down for the win. However Kevin Steen is not an easy man to keep down. He has shown us this time and time again through his career.
Everything began to shift back to Dragon and Steen after the violent team began to feel some fighting spirit flow through their bodies. After about twenty five minutes of action Steen and Dragon won with a double stomp package piledriver. The crowd erupted for the newest Tag Team Champions as the Young Bucks were left to lick their wounds. Excalibur on commentary put over the new champions at the most violent team in PWG history and for anyone to knock them off would be a grand accomplishment.
The night belonged to Kevin Steen and one of the original wrestlers of PWG, Super Dragon. It was a great moment for Super Dragon as Steen put over Dragon's girlfriend for beating cancer. I think through the mask he was smiling upon hearing that. But the match isn't as fantastic as so many people would have painted it out to be. The brawling segments were fun but when the Bucks were working over Steen I just got this sense they were killing time until Super Dragon got back into the match and started beating them once more.
It was a fine return match for Super Dragon. A great way for Steen to end his year too. It was a really fun match but no where near as close as I've seen it rated. If you want my opinion I give about ***1/2. Really fun match but never buying the Young Bucks being able to win just kills so much of the suspense.
